Donation Campaign for Fudan Centennial Ceremony

Dear Fudan and SMU Alumni in Great Houston,
Fudan University is entering her 100th anniversary in 2005, and is preparing for her centennial celebration. According to the new expansion plan, Fudan (including former Shanghai Medical University) will build new stadium, medical center, research and teaching facilities, museum and gardens, etc. It's promised to be a major event for Shanghai and for China's education. If all these projects are completed as planned, a world-class campus will emerge in China. It¡¯s something that we Fudan/SMU alumni feel very proud of.
Apparently, Fudan cannot achieve her ambitious goal without outside support. General Fudan Alumni Association in Shanghai has reached out all Fudan alumni associations worldwide for our support. Our Houston member Professor Liu Jiashu is a member of the preparation committee.
Fudan needs our participation and financial support. To avoid conflict with final exams, Fudan has decided to hold the centenary ceremony in September next year, instead of May. We plan to organize a group of members to participate this big event. If you are interested, please let me know.
For the financial matter, Fudan needs donations from alumni to fund its building construction, and your contribution will be remembered in proper manner. By April 30, Fudan has received donation over RMB100 million. One project that we are particularly interested in is the new Fudan Gym. The gym stadium can accommodate 3,570 seats. Everyone who donates 1000 yuan ($125) will get his/her name carved on the wall and its seat number. If you donate 5000 yuan, you will get five seats under your name. We think this is a very attractive and affordable way for donation, and we ask for your support. We are collecting donations from our members and will forward to Fudan in a lump sum by August 31, because these seats are limited. Please verify your Chinese name in our membership directory so that your name will not be misspelled on the wall. If you are interested in donating a VIP seat, it costs 10,000 yuan. I encourage everyone reply this e-mail with your donation. Thanks for your support to Fudan.
